Lakeland context
Florida construction and Florida humidity combine to make one issue larger than every other consideration in this trade. Almost every Lakeland house and garage sits on a slab on grade, and in this climate a slab moves water vapor upward continuously -- so a coating installed over a slab that has not been moisture-tested is the most common way the work fails, blistering or delaminating months later with nothing visibly wrong at the time of installation. Sandy Central Florida soils and a shallow water table keep moisture available under that slab year-round, and slabs poured in the historic core and the bungalow neighborhoods often predate routine use of a vapor retarder entirely. Heat and humidity also compress the window in which a coating cures correctly, which makes slab temperature and dew point at the time of application as consequential as the product selected.
